Rui Dias (Braga, 1974) studied jazz and classical piano in his home town. He holds a PhD in Digital Media and MA in Multimedia from at the University of Porto, as well as a BA in Composition from ESMAE – Politécnico do Porto. Rui is Teacher and Program Director of the Electronic Music and Musical Production (MEPM) course of the School of Applied Arts of Castelo Branco – Portugal (ESART – IPCB).
Active as a Composer, performer and programmer, with a focus on computer music, improvisation and the creation of interactive musical and multimedia systems, Rui has presented his work at Reencontros de Música Contemporânea (Aveiro), Aveiro_Síntese, Festival Música Viva (Lisboa), Festival “Synthèse” (Bourges, França), Dias de Música Electroacústica, Unicer Laboratório Criativo, Festival Tom de Vídeo (Tondela), Festival Future Places (Porto), Guimarães 2012 capital europeia da cultura, Manobras no Porto, Suoni Inauditi (Livorno, Itália), Sonoscopia (Porto), Janeiro dos Grandes Espetáculos (Recife, Brasil), Serralves em Festa (Porto), Noite Branca (Braga), CARA Ano Zero (Matosinhos); Festival Semibreve (Braga), Phonambient Braga (GNRation), Som Riscado (Loulé), among others.
